The ICI, International Composers and Improvisers Ensemble Munich is one of the few large musical formations world-wide regularly performing improvised music. Through both independent projects and in co-operation with internationally-known musicians, the group has achieved an established reputation throughout Europe.
Barry Guy, Giancarlo Schiaffini and George Lewis have all worked with the ICI Ensemble as “Composers in Residence.” Also the group’s history includes projects with Han Bennink, Mary Oliver, Vinko Globokar, Maya Homburger, Evan Parker, Phil Durrant, Nicole Mitchel, Leonard Jones, Tobias Delius, Douglas Ewart and Thomas Lehn.
Also in 2005 the International Composers and Improvisers Ensemble, ICI, released a CD produced by the Bavarian Radio with compositions written by members of the ICI ensemble and has been chosen by the Jury of the German Music Council for the Promotion of Concerts (“Konzert des deutschen Musikrates”) for the project, International Meetings 2006, a series of concerts featuring internationally- known soloists together with musicians of the ICI Ensemble.
